Probate

When someone dies this requires that a person or persons needs to deal with their estate. This involves collecting all the assets, paying off debts and then distributing out the monies to those eligible to receive a share. The person or persons charged with the responsibility are given a court's authority to administer the deceased person's estate and it is this that is called probate.

The Probate Service

The Probate Service is part of the Family Division of the High Court. Where there is no challenge to a will the service deals with issuing of grants of representation.
